5 recommendations before visiting the dentist

How to prepare for a visit to the dentist

In order for your dental treatment, tooth extraction , tooth implantation , teeth cleaning to be effective, you will have to follow simple rules.

1. Don’t come to the visit hungry

No matter what time of day you have to visit the dentist, you should not be hungry.

Why is this important? After eating, a minimum amount of saliva is released, which helps the doctor to work successfully during the treatment and extraction of teeth. In addition, the patient feels calmer and less nervous.

Often, patients are reluctant to come to the dental office after eating, because food particles may remain in the mouth after eating. It should be noted that this is usually not an obstacle to treatment. However, if the patient is psychologically concerned about it, our dental clinic has disposable toothbrushes for your convenience.

2. Get well from colds and viruses (including herpes!)

Virus infection lowers immunity. Cough, runny nose, fever – these are not favorable conditions for performing dental manipulations. In addition to the fact that the body’s ability to resist is reduced, at this time the patient is also a spreader of the virus, which can cause the doctor and staff to become sick.

For example, the herpes virus can only appear as a rash on the lip, but it is contagious. After a dental intervention, it can become complicated and require serious treatment.

Whether you have severe symptoms or just feel weak, it is best to postpone a visit to the dentist until you are fully recovered.

3. Do not schedule an appointment for a certain period after vaccination

Vaccination is incompatible with dental intervention. It is better to postpone the visit for 3-4 weeks. If you are planning implantation, then the time between vaccination and dental manipulation will be 3-6 months.

4. It is not allowed to visit in a state of intoxication

It is not allowed to take alcohol for courage or to relieve stress after manipulation! The dentist will definitely tell you about it.

5. 100% transparency

Be honest. Tell your dentist about your body’s peculiarity, permanent or temporary symptoms. Ask questions and discuss with them all unclear issues.

Allergic test

Tell your doctor if you have/have had an allergic reaction to any medication. Allergy is one of the most common and dangerous conditions. If you have ever had an allergic reaction after treatment, medication, or anesthesia, be sure to write down the name of the drug or substance that caused the reaction. Always inform the doctor about this before starting treatment, indicating all the facts and manifestations.

If you are going to the dentist for the first time or you have not had a dental treatment for more than a year, then take an allergy test 24 hours before the visit to the dentist, for the anesthetic agent that will be used by your dentist.

Pregnancy

Teeth can be treated or extracted during pregnancy. In some cases it is necessary. Medicines used in modern dentistry are safe, but in each specific case, the doctor decides individually which medicine to use.
