Individuals with thinner gum tissue are usually more susceptible to recession.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"dfemg7\" data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1233\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Structure of the Gum (Gingiva)<\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1235\" data-end=\"1397\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The gingiva is the soft tissue that covers and protects the neck of the tooth and the underlying bone.
