E.MAX Veneers: Tbilisi Dental Clinic Installation

Smile has a huge impact on our outlook. Missing teeth / teeth with cavities / “yellowish” teeth / uneven teeth might have negative impact on our smile. Aesthetically proportional, natural looking white color of teeth vice-versa can charm people around us. In certain cases it might be achieved with installation of E.MAX veneers.

IPS E.MAX® veneers have become a popular choice due to their natural look and exceptional durability. At Richter’s clinic, we specialize in delivering beautiful results with help of this technology. This article explores the benefits of IPS E.MAX veneers and how they can change your appearance.

Transforming Precision into Perfection

What Are E-Max Veneers?

IPS E.MAX® is a registered trademark of Ivoclar Vivadent AG (originally a Swiss based company (est. 1923, who later moved to Liechtestein). IPS E.MAX® itself is lithium disilicate (Li2Si2O5) glass-ceramic material invented by this firm in search of light, durable, strong and aesthetically appealing material. This material is used for making of crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays. IPS stands for Ivoclar Porcelain System (company name) and E.MAX for the brand name of the material itself.

Veneers made from IPS E.MAX veneers are ultra-thin shells made from lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, used to cover the front surface of teeth. Such veneers are individually made to fit each individual tooth, providing a personalized approach to smile enhancement, based on natural positioning and forms of individual’s teeth. The material is known for its strength and translucency. Ivoclar declares that more than 150 million restorations were made with its help, and survival rate of over 96% is achieved.

Making ideal artificial teeth / veneers (shields on your teeth) with IPS E.MAX® is related to extensive usage of technology. We will discuss it below.

Benefits of IPS E.MAX Veneers

It’s Beautiful!

IPS E.MAX® is adjusted to have lifelike appearance. What makes it beautiful is:

  1. Four different levels of translucency. Like the delicate way sunlight filters through a pearl, creating a natural, multi-dimensional effect.
  2. The A–D shades. Just like a painter’s palette blending the perfect tone.
  3. Special Bleach and Impulse shades. For those who want a Hollywood sparkle or a subtle, youthful glow.

As there are so many variables we can adjust – the teeth might look like you always had them this way. Actually, they look like your teeth, the way they were meant to be.

E.MAX Durability

Truly MAX durability. Ivoclar tests quality of materials for more than 10 years and it shows that IPS e.max offers a high strength of 530 MPa. 530 MPa is nearly as strong as some steels used in construction and engineering! Just so you imagine, human dentin (the inner part of teeth) has a strength of around 250 MPa, and enamel (the outer protective layer) reaches 350-400 MPa. IPS E.MAX® significantly exceeds these values, making it highly durable.

In addition, it shows a high fracture toughness of 2.11 MPa m. Enamel has a fracture toughness of about 0.6-1.3 MPa m, so IPS E.MAX® outperforms natural enamel in resisting fractures.

This combination is particularly sought after in minimally invasive dentistry.

Minimal Tooth Preparation

E-Max veneers are designed to require less preparatory work on the tooth. This careful approach helps keep more of the natural tooth structure, which is good for patients looking to improve their smile while protecting their teeth’s health.

Stain Resistance

E-Max veneers are less likely to get stains than natural teeth. They hold up well against discoloration from coffee, tea, red wine, and other substances that can stain, helping keep your smile bright and attractive (and giving you a possibility to drink amazing Georgian red wine Khvanchkara / Usakhelouri and coffee without being nervous about your teeth decoloration!).

Fast Process

Getting E-Max veneers typically takes less time than other cosmetic dental treatments. Often, the whole procedure can be finished in just a few appointments at Richter’s Clinic, letting you enjoy your new smile quickly.

The Procedure of E.MAX Veneer Installation

The process of preparation and installation of IPS E.MAX veneers typically involves several steps:

1. Initial Consultation

During your first visit, we assess your dental health and discuss your aesthetic goals. This consultation is crucial for determining if IPS E.MAX veneers are the right solution for you. They may not be the best option for those with severe dental issues such as extensive tooth decay or gum disease.

2. General Preparatory Works

Before starting the tooth preparation for veneers we must firstly prepare all teeth of oral cavity. They all must be in a good shape! So, normally we start with teeth professional cleaning. Then, if any teeth are in trouble with cavities – we make the best dental filling of all teeth that are impacted. Teeth filling are made with Shofu enamel composite, which is made in Japan.

3. Tooth Preparation for Veneers Installation

If you choose to go ahead with the veneers, we will prepare your teeth, which normally includes slightly reducing the enamel to ensure they fit well. Local anesthesia can be used to make sure you’re comfortable during this step. This preparation is necessary to align the veneers ideally with your natural teeth, but it’s typically minimal, preserving most of your tooth structure. In cases where teeth are already very worn or weak, further tooth preparation might not be advisable.

4. Oral Scanning and Shade Selection

During the third step of the veneer process, we use advanced digital scanning technology (3DISC Heron Scanner) to capture precise impressions of your teeth. These scans are crucial as they allow us to create veneers that are made specifically to fit your mouth perfectly. Also, we engage in a detailed discussion about the shade of your veneers. This step ensures that the color of the veneers will complement your existing teeth.

5. Fabrication of Veneers (CAD/CAM use)

The digital scans of your teeth are sent to our dental laboratory, where they are used in conjunction with state-of-the-art CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology to craft your E-Max veneers. This technology allows for highly accurate and efficient production, ensuring that each veneer is perfectly shaped and tailored to the individual contours of your teeth. The use of CAD/CAM technology not only speeds up the fabrication process but also enhances the fit and aesthetics of the final product. This process usually takes 3-4 days. Skilled technicians, considering factors such as color matching, tooth morphology, bite dynamics, facial symmetry, gum health, and material durability, ensure a perfect fit and natural appearance. Below you may check several works, made by our technician Davit Revazishvili.

6. Placement of Veneers

Once your veneers are ready, you will return to our dental clinic for placement. We will carefully bond the veneers to your teeth, ensuring a precise fit and natural appearance. For bonding we use a high-quality dental adhesive Vitique, which is made in Germany, known for its excellent bonding strength and aesthetic compatibility for veneers.

7. Final Review and Adjustment of Veneers

After the veneers are bonded to your teeth, a final review is conducted to ensure the fit, bite, and appearance meet our high standards and your expectations. This step may involve making minor adjustments to the veneers to optimize comfort and functionality. It’s also an opportunity for you to provide feedback on how the veneers feel and look, ensuring you leave completely satisfied with your new smile.

More Details about CAD/CAM Technology

As mentioned before, CAD/CAM stands for Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing, an amazing technology widely used in dentistry to improve the design and creation of dental restorations. This technology allows dental professionals to construct, produce, and insert individualized ceramic dental restorations directly at the point of treatment in a single appointment.

The process begins with a digital impression of the patient’s teeth, captured using a special camera. This image is then converted into a 3D model using CAD software, which allows the dentist to design the restoration with precision. Once the design is approved, CAM takes over to mill the restoration from a solid block of ceramic, matching the tooth’s color and structure.

The result is a highly accurate, durable, and aesthetically pleasing restoration that can be adjusted and placed during the same visit, reducing the need for multiple appointments and enhancing patient comfort.
